Wedding Anniversary Cake
This cake was for a 50th wedding anniversary party. The client wanted to use the original wedding cake topper, which consisted of flowers and leaves, two white doves and an intricately carved base. The flowers on the cake topper had aged (obviously) and turned into a soft cream colour.
With the traditional colour for a 50th wedding anniversary being gold, I decided to create fondant flowers ranging from white to a creamy yellow in five varying shades.
I then painted the centre of each flower using gold luster dust to reinforce the 50th wedding anniversary theme. Each flower was then completed using a non edible Wilton flower stamen.
Because I did not have the actual cake topper with me, and was basing colours from a photo, using more than one shade of cream made it easier to tie in both the gold colour theme and the original topper.
